Repurposing and reusing- it's all about those Amazon shipping materials.

We live in an online world and as such we are inundated with excessive amounts of shipping materials. One small product arrives at our address in a much larger box stuffed with paper, bubble wrap and pieces of corrugated cardboard. Over-use of packaging materials is a serious environmental issue- especially when recycling centers are overwhelmed with materials and have access to limited customers for these materials.
Because of this we have been saving packaging materials to incorporate into the art. Bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard, styrofoam, and shredded paper are finding a home in landscapes, gardens, and oceans on canvas. Sometimes the addition of these materials is not obvious. You have to look hard to see that some of the textures in our work are the result of recycled and repurposed materials within the layers of paint.
We don't openly display those recycled materials but we give them a lifetime home in the art.
Original artworks in acrylics and ink combined with recycled and found materials to create a space where art and environmentalism coexist.
It's not just a catchy phrase.
